Olga and Florian travelled to Edinburgh, Scotland to attend the 19th International Congress of the Society for Melanoma Research. Olga won a SMR travel award and presented a poster on her work on MAFG. Florian gave a talk on Xiaonan's work on chromosome 1q ceRNAs, which was recently published in Cancer Research.

We are excited to receive an award from Moffitt's Donald A. Adam Melanoma and Skin Cancer Center of Excellence in support of our work on pediatric melanoma. This proposal, entitled "Defining and Modeling Pediatric Melanoma Development" was written by Olga. Very well done, Olga!

The lab was well represented at the Models and Mechanisms of Cancer meeting at beautiful Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Xiaonan, Manon, Kai, Nicol, Virginia presented posters while Neel attended and presented online.

Xiaonan's paper on the pro-metastatic function of ceRNAs encoded by genes localized on the chromosome 1q amplicon was accepted for publication at Cancer Research. This was a huge effort and adds to our understanding of how miRNA sequestration can promote cancer. Congrats, Xiaonan!
