On January 24, 2024, the Machine Learning Department held our rEsearch in progress MachinE leaRninG mEetings (EMERGE). Our presenters were Kavya Venkatesan and Isabel Ung from Ghulam Rasool Lab who talked about the progression of AI and common misconceptions regarding Large Language Models.

On January 10, 2024 The Machine Learning Department held their The rEsearch in progress MachinE leaRninG mEetings (EMERGE) with Presenter: Jesutofunmi Fajemisin from Lab: Issam El Naqa, M.A.,Ph.D, DABR, FAAPM, FIEEE, FAIMBE. The topic was: AI for effective MRI-Linac adaptive RT.

On December 4, 2023, we held our EMERGE (rEsearch in progress MachinE leaRninG mEetings) with our presenter Ashwin Mukund from Dr. Ghulam Rasool’s Lab. He spoke about some very cool approaches to features processing.

On November 29, 2023, we held our EMERGE (research in progress) seminar with our presenter Thanh Duong from Dr. Thanh Thieu's Lab. He spoke on OncoNLP, a pipeline of cancer phenotype and clinical extraction and how a knowledge base improves generative models.

On October 18, 2023, we held our (research in progress) seminar with our presenter Dr. Piyawan Conahan, Ph.D. from Dr. Yi Luo’s Lab. She spoke on improving the participation and adherence of lung cancer screening with Fair and Explainable

Two presenters, Tuan Dung Le from Thieu’s lab and Sara DeValle from Karolak provided a great experience at this EMERGE (rEsearch in progress MachinE leaRninG mEeting). Great work!

Matthew Froid is a 1st year PhD student doing his in David Basanta's lab in IMO. Matthew presented at the Machine Learning Department's EMERGE (rEsearch in progress MachinE leaRninG mEeting). Mathew presented on how he can extend his work in AML with Russell Rockne and David Basanta to drug-drug interactions and protein networks studied during rotations in my lab. Good job Matthew!

We were honored to have two of our secondary faculty present at this meeting of EMERGE (rEsearch in progress MachinE leaRninG mEeting) in the Machine Learning Department.

Dr. Les Folio presented on the topic of: The latest and greatest ML enterprise imaging research (make annotations great again) and Dr. Marilyn Bui spoke to us about the importance of pathology and its 3rd revolution thanks to AI.
