Postdoctoral Fellow

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Shari Pilon-Thomas, Department of Immunology.  Our research is focused on the enhancement of anti-tumor immune responses using vaccines or adoptive cell therapy (ACT) with tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) for the treatment of solid tumors.

Position Highlights:

  • We seek a highly motivated, team-oriented individual interested in translational immunotherapy research for the treatment of solid tumors. Applicants should have less than two years post-doctoral experience.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in basic immunology techniques, including multi-color flow cytometry.
  • Is well-experienced in culturing mammalian cell lines and primary mammalian cells, especially T cells and tumor cell lines.
  • Has experience working with mouse models of cancer and demonstrates a working knowledge of mouse genetics and basic mouse husbandry.
  • Is a self-motivated, organized, and team-oriented individual.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn research techniques that directly relate to the program’s scientific projects and goals with appropriate direction and supervision.
  • Plan, conduct, and document experiments independently; evaluate and interpret data with guidance.
  • Develop scientific writing and presentation skills, including grant proposals, manuscript preparation, and formal seminars.
  • Present research findings to the Moffitt scientific community and at national scientific meetings.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • MD or Ph.D. Ph.D. in Immunology, Cancer Biology, or other related field.
  • Applicants should have less than two year's post-doctoral experience.

Research Associate I

Position Highlights:

  • A Research Associate I position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Shari Pilon-Thomas in the Department of Immunology.
  • We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and team-oriented individual interested in translational immunotherapy for the treatment of solid tumors.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in basic immunology techniques, including flow cytometry and ELISA.
  • Is well-experienced in culturing mammalian cell lines and/or primary mammalian cells.
  • Has experience working with mouse models of cancer.
  • Prior research experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • The employee will assist PI and other lab members by performing research and experimentation following established protocols.
  • The employee will also be required to maintain detailed records, establish procedures, and process and analyze data.
  • Takes inventory of laboratory supplies and helps with maintaining equipment. 

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Hands-on research experience required
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Research Associate II

  • A Research Associate II position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Shari Pilon-Thomas in the Department of Immunology
  • We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and highly motivated individual interested in translational immunotherapy for the treatment of solid tumors.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in basic immunology techniques, including multi-color flow cytometry, cell culture, and ELISA.
  • Is experienced in culturing mammalian cell lines and primary mammalian cells.
  • Has extensive experience with T cell culture, immunological assays, and processing human blood cells
  • Applicants with a minimum of two years’ experience working in a research lab are preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • The employee will assist PI and other lab members by performing research and experimentation following established protocols.
  • The employee will also be required to maintain detailed records, establish procedures, and process and analyze data.
  • Takes inventory and helps with ordering stock laboratory supplies under appropriate supervision.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is required. Master’s degree in relevant field is preferred.
  • Hands-on research experience is required
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
