Internships are unpaid, either voluntary or for academic credit, unless external funding is secured. Examples of research-focused academic credit hours include: ECH 4914 at USF (3 credits), AS.020.503 at Johns Hopkins (1 credit), and DS4940 at UF (1 credit).
