Ibrahim (Abe) Oraiqat, PhD 

Applied Research Scientist 

Abe received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Applied Physics and an M.S.E in Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan.  Prior to joining the Moffitt Cancer Center, he trained under Dr. El Naqa as a post-doctoral fellow in Radiation Oncology (Medical Physics) at the University of Michigan.  He is currently working on a new imaging modality based on optical spectroscopy using Cerenkov Emission during radiotherapy for biologically guided treatments, which recently received an STTR grant from NIH.  He is also working on radiation acoustic imaging for real time dose measurements and radiation beam localization in tissue during radiotherapy. His most recent publication, “An ionizing radiation acoustic imaging (iRAI) technique for real‐time dosimetric measurements for FLASH radiotherapy” highlights the use of radiation acoustics as an enabling step for the safe clinical translation of FLASH radiotherapy. His future plans include integrating such emerging modalities with clinical decision support systems to improve treatment outcomes.
