Study title: HPV Multilevel Intervention Strategies Targeting Immunization in Community Settings (HPV MISTICS)

What is this study about? HPV MISTICS is a multi-level intervention which aims to increase HPV vaccination rates among adolescents aged 11-17 receiving care at 8 Florida federally qualified health centers by intervening at the system-, provider-, and parent- levels. This intervention utilizes parent reminder post cards, physician reminders, and vaccine champions.


 

Study title: A Pre-Pilot of a Survivor-Personalized Colorectal Cancer Screening Education Intervention for Adult First-Degree Relatives

What is this study about? The goal is to develop a personalized educational intervention acceptable to both colorectal cancer (CRC) survivors and first degree relatives (FDRs) aimed at promoting CRC screening among FDRs and to examine the feasibility, acceptability, and proof of concept of a CRC survivor-personalized intervention to increase FDRs’ CRC knowledge and screening intentions.

Study title: CARES HCV: Promoting Concurrent Hepatitis C Virus Screening and Colorectal Cancer Screening Uptake Among Diverse Baby Boomers

What is this study about? The CARES HCV study is a multi-behavioral intervention that aims to test the feasibility, efficacy, and acceptability of an educational intervention to promote both CRC and HCV screening among individuals born 1945-1965. The study also evaluates the post-intervention uptake rates for both HCV and CRC screening behaviors 6 months post-intervention. In addition, the study explores the resource utilization and costs of the intervention to promote CRC and HCV screening behaviors.

Study title: Adaptation of an HPV education resource to promote HPV vaccination among Latino Young Men who Have Sex with Men in Puerto Rico and Florida (Hombres Previniendo el VPH)

What is this study about? The Hombres Previniendo el VPH Project is a pilot project with team members at both Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) and Moffitt Cancer Center (MCC). Our team is culturally and linguistically adapting education materials about the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and the HPV vaccine for Young Adult (ages 18-26) Latino Men who have Sex with Men (YLMSM). Working with our Community Advisory Board, our project aims involve an online Spanish survey to understand knowledge, health beliefs, and attitudes about HPV and HPV vaccination, focus groups/individual interviews with the YLMSM community to receive feedback on adapted educational materials, and interviews with community stakeholders working with YLMSM to inform intervention content and delivery methods of HPV educational materials.

Title: Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) and Moffitt Cancer Center (MCC) U54 Partnership – Outreach Core

Sponsor: National Cancer Institute’s Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities through the Comprehensive Partnerships to Advance Cancer Health Equity (CPACHE) Program (U54CA163068 and U54CA163071)

What is the project about? The PHSU-MCC Partnership Outreach Core aims looking to reduce cancer disparities in the Hispanic/Latino population in Florida and in Puerto Rico via cancer education and outreach activities to Hispanic/Latino community members. The outreach events include education events and presentations and to build a bridge between cancer researchers and community members.

Study title: Health Beliefs, Behaviors, and Healthcare Experiences among a National Sample of United States Young and Mid-Age Adults

Sponsor: Moffitt Cancer Center’s Center for Immunization and Infection Research in Cancer Award and Moffitt Merit Society Award

What is this study about? This is a two-part study consisting of a quantitative survey and two qualitative aims. First, a web-based survey was conducted to examine HPV vaccination knowledge, beliefs, intentions, behaviors, socio-demographics, prior health behaviors, and other health care variables among adults (N=4,000) aged 18-45 living in the United States. Then, individual interviews (N=30) were conducted to elicit feedback on educational materials promoting HPV vaccination uptake among individuals aged 18-26, and HPV vaccination recommendations among health care providers serving adults 18-26.

Study title: Development of a Multi-Behavioral Intervention to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities: Promotion of Hepatitis C Virus Screening and Colorectal Cancer Screening Uptake Among Diverse Baby Boomers

What is this study about? The purpose of the study was to assess awareness of hepatitis C virus (HCV) screening and colorectal cancer (CRC) screening knowledge, health beliefs, recommendation receipt, intentions, and uptake among individuals born between 1945-1965 recruited in community clinic settings, and to receive feedback on content, message framing, and delivery elements on educational materials aimed at promoting both CRC screening and HCV screening among individuals born between 1945-1965.
